Sharon Martin is the former CFO of one of the District of Columbia’s most successful community development corporations(“CDC”). In that position she was deeply involved in the financing of many commercial and residential projects from land acquisition through construction and occupancy. Upon leaving the CDC to become one of the founding principals of Advance Financial, a financial services firm located in suburban Washington, DC. Advance Financial became very active in assisting small and medium sized businesses in metropolitan Washington. They were also known for providing guidance to start-up companies and setting them on a path to success and growth. Earlier in her career Sharon was an auditor for the DC Department of Housing and Community Development. Her responsibilities included examining financial records to ensure compliance with appropriate rules and regulations. Sharon began her career as an auditor with Reznick and Company, a firm well known in the community development finance community. Ms. Martin is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she received a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis on accounting.
